Nathan Garrison, RMT

Days of work: Monday - Friday

Nathan was a graduate of the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2005 and is the owner of Gordon Head Massage
Therapy.

He is a calm, dedicated and responsive massage therapist, focused on treating and releiving pain and dysfunction. Some of the people Nathan has helped with great success include nurses, office workers, athletes and students. His gentle, rhythmic yet specific technique is especially effective at targeting deeper layers of tension while keeping the body relaxed.

I believe we each get the challenges in life that make us grow and evolve. Sometimes, however, we need help in meeting these obstacles. We can carry the disharmony of mental stress and physical trauma of these challenges deep within our bodies as muscles tension.  The deeper work needed to release this tension does not have to be painful. Every treatment I do is unique and sensitive to you and the challenges you face. I know that massage therapy can be a profound and extraordinary regenerative experience, one that can bring the body and mind back into balance.  Would you like to book an appointment with Nathan? Book now

Continuing education training Nathan has taken since graduating include
Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD)Schweitzer's Deep Tissue Therapy, and Active Release Techniques (ART) for the lower limbs.

Testimonial

Nathan Garrison is an exceptional, professional massage therapist who is committed to resolving severe chronic pain issues from physical injury. He has made
the difference in my life.  A history of sports and work related injuries turned my life from participatory, active and enjoyable to physically immobile with unrelenting neck and shoulder pain and intense, unstoppable headaches.

When I first started seeing Nathan I had almost given up hope of ever hiking or taking walks again, as simple garden-strolls could cause muscle spasms resulting in fierce headaches lasting for days.  My life went from happy independence to daily pain filled misery, sometimes even wondering if I could get out of bed.

Weekly massage therapy visits with Nathan inched me back to hope, laughter and well being.  Because of the chronic nature and history of the injuries, it took a while to recover but this summer I backpacked the Rockies, and now have resumed a weekly fitness schedule.

In the course of my recovery, Nathan has been a true massage therapist/health practitioner, answering questions, explaining anatomy, teaching appropriate exercises and in the end, being a profound part of the reason of why I can fully participate in an energetic lifestyle once again.  I’ve already recommended him to others who are locked in the pain cycle with physical ailments that don’t improve.  And yes, he’s making a difference to them as well.

Claire Higgins, RMT

Days of work: Tuesday - Saturday

Claire is a graduate of the class of 1995 from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Vancouver.  Since graduating, she has worked in Vancouver, Courtney, and primarily, in Victoria.  Claire owned a successful practice in Victoria, with a partner, but in 2006, moved down to the Turks and Caicos in the British West Indies to fulfill a lifelong dream of working in the Caribbean.  After four years of life in the Caribbean, she decided to return to Island life, and has moved back to Victoria, and joined Gordon Head Massage Therapy on a full time basis.

Claire draws on both personal and professional experience to provide focal, deep tissue treatments, customized to each individual’s needs and expectations.  Her many years of practical experience give her a strong base from which to problem solve the puzzle that each patient presents.

As a Reiki Master, Claire also adds an intuitive healing component to each of her treatments.

Claire has also been a Certified Manual Lymph Drainage Therapist since 2003, with training in the Vodder Method of MLD/CDT.  Manual Lymph Drainage is a gentle massage technique which helps drain excess fluid from the body by guiding the fluid (lymph) to an area where it can then be integrated into the body’s natural drainage system, the lymphatic system.  MLD/CDT is most often used to deal with the after effects of cancer and/or surgery, where the patient is suffering from acute or chronic fluid buildup.  It is also very successful in treating burns, edema, acne, bruising and acute swelling due to injury.  For more information on MLD, go to http://www.vodderschool.com.

With Claire’s wide range of skills and experience she is able to offer a unique perspective to each client on their road to health and wellness.  Would you like to book an appointment with Claire? Book now.
