At Gordon Head Massage Therapy, our registered massage therapists (RMTs) provide a personal approach when administering services. Because each client has a different rehabilitation process, we are able to rely on our multi-disciplinary staff to provide a treatment plan tailored to each client. We offer many RMT services in Victoria that can treat a wide range of injuries and ailments.
Swedish Massage: The most common massage modality, Swedish massage is the process of rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of the blood flowing to the heart. It is used to relax the entire body, increase oxygen in the blood, decrease muscle toxins and improve circulation and flexibility. Swedish massage can help with chronic lower back pain, some symptoms of fibromyalgia and more.
Trigger Point Therapy: A trigger point is a tight area within your muscle that causes pain elsewhere. Trigger point massage therapy focuses on alleviating the source of your pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release. During this process, you will participate through deep breathing and helping identify the exact location and intensity of your discomfort.
Deep Tissue Massage: Deep tissue massage uses deep pressure and slow strokes to reach deep layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia. This treatment is beneficial to release chronic muscle tension, reduce stress and break up scar tissue. It can improve limited mobility as well as reduce lower back pain.
Hot Stone Massage: During hot stone massage therapy, a therapist places flat, smooth, heated stones on different points on your body. The stones are heated to help relax and warm tight muscles, allowing the therapist to knead muscles more deeply and quickly. This therapy can relieve muscle tension and pain, reduce stress and anxiety and help relieve symptoms of autoimmune diseases.
Reiki: A Japanese technique used for stress reduction and relaxation, Reiki is administered by a practitioner placing and holding their hands on a series of locations on the head as well as front and back of the torso. No pressure is used; rather a flow of life force energy is transferred from the practitioner to you. It can treat physical and emotional problems including migraines, arthritis and sciatica as well as distress and sorrow.
Manual Lymph Drainage: Your lymph system maintains efficient immune function, fluid metabolism and proper detoxification. During a manual lymph drainage treatment, the therapist applies light pressure toward the lymph nodes to release fluid buildup. This is helpful for treating trauma, edema, general congestion, sluggishness, fatigue and more.
Myofascial Release: An effective hands-on technique, myofascial release involves applying gentle, sustained pressure to trigger points in your myofascial tissues. By easing tension and tightness in the trigger points, this technique is able to reduce pain due to myofascial pain syndrome, chronic headaches or venous insufficiency.
Foot Reflexology: Specific points in your feet correspond to organs and different symptoms in your body. Reflexology treatments use pressure-based massage on the feet in these specific points. This type of treatment is helpful for relieving stress, promoting relaxation, easing digestive issues and more.
Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy: Founded on the ancient Mayan technique of abdominal massage, this technique uses external non-invasive manipulation to reposition internal organs that have shifted. This holistic modality incorporates massage, anatomy, physiology, nutrition and more to promote better digestion. It can treat disorders such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, indigestion, constipation, heartburn and more.
Salt Glow with Seaweed Wrap: An exfoliating treatment used to stimulate your skin, our salt glow treatment uses a mixture of sea salt, oil, aromatics and fresh seaweed to replenish nutrients in your body, thereby eliminating toxins and renewing your skin’s youthful vibrancy. This treatment is helpful for treating eczema and psoriasis as it stimulates circulation and exfoliates the skin.
Mobile Massage Therapy: If you don’t have time to visit us, we can come to you. During mobile massage therapy, our RMTs can visit your home or office and provide you with the majority of our massage and therapy treatments.
